PROFILE OF ABA BOWLES-MORTLEY,
Dr. Aba Bowles-Mortley holds a PhD, Msc, in Materials and Chemical Engineering and a BSC in Engineering
Chemistry, and is the daughter of the creator of Cher-Mère Herbal Personal Care Products and Cher Mère Day
Spas in Trinidad and Barbados. She also serves as Director, The Herbarium Ltd., in Trinidad & Barbados. Dr
Bowles-Mortley is the Assistant General Manger The Herbarium Ltd, Trinidad, and resides in North America.
She has presented papers in over 15 international conferences and has had several published journals. In
addition Dr Bowles-Mortley has been awarded the Governor General's Gold Medal for the graduating student
with the highest academic standing at the Royal Military College of Canada (2010), the R.E. Jervis Award
in 2010 from the Canadian Nuclear Society for Research on the Effects of Radiation on Castor Oil Based
Polyurethanes, and received an RMC scholarship from Canada's Defense Research Development Board
(DRDB).
Aba Bowles-Mortley is a mother and an active member in community. Her awards include Volunteer Service
Awards for five-year service and dedication as a volunteer in Ontario in 2010, Member of the Youth Justice
Committee by the Ministry of the Attorney General, 2011, recipient of the Andrea Van Blaricom Volunteer of
the Year Award, Youth Division, Kingston, Ontario in 2006. She enjoys being healthy and staying fit, through
running, boxing, and astanga yoga, and has participated in the ING Ottawa Half-Marathon; Beat Beethoven
Run and the Wolfe Island 10 K Classic Run.
