PROFILE OF CHERYL BOWLES,
Cheryl Bowles is a mother, trained biochemist, entrepreneur and creator of Cher-Mère Herbal Personal Care
Products and Cher Mère Day Spas in Trinidad and Barbados. She is also the Founder & Managing Director
of The Herbarium Ltd., Trinidad & Barbados. Her skills were developed while serving as Chief Chemist,
Quality Control, Head of Research and Development at Nestlé where she trained in Switzerland, UK, and Latin
America. She was also Co-founder and first President of the Nestlé Credit Union. She is a member of Cosmetic
Executive Women Organization headquarters in New York.
Always concerned with giving back to community, Cheryl Bowles was a founding director of the Youth,
Training, Empowerment and Partnership Programme (YTEPP) established by the Government of Trinidad
and Tobago in 1988. Ms. Bowles, has also founded and presided over two other organizations, Helping Other
People Survive (HOPS) and the Margaret Waldron Education Fund, a non-profit organization which supports
education and development of young peopleShe has served as President of the Caribbean Herbal Business
Association, Former Deputy Chairman, Solid Waste Management Company (SWMCOL) Trinidad & Tobago,
from 2002 to 2005, appointed by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, and is a Member of the Cosmetic
Executive Women Organization, New York. She was invited by the White House in Washington, D.C.,
to attend the first US/Canada Women's Business Forum in 1999, and was the sole representative from the
Caribbean. Invitations were also extended to her by UN and UNDP to Switzerland and Ghana to participate in
Business workshops in 1996 and 1997.
Interviews have been conducted on BBC Television, England, for The Clothes Show by Carolyn Franklin, and
Cheryl Bowles continues to be interviewed on Radio, Television, and in the Press in Trinidad and Barbados.
Mrs. Bowles is studied as a "Caribbean Scientist" in the Education Syllabus of Trinidad and Tobago, Social
Science Program and is the Donor of the Cheryl Bowles Challenge Trophy and Annual Bursary to the
University student with the Best Final Year Project in Natural Science at University of the West Indies, St.
Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago. Honors include a place among a list of top 20 distinguished women in
Trinidad and Tobago, to commemorate International Women's Day 2003, and recipient of the Biochemist
Business Award in London and numerous others in Trinidad and Tobago.
She enjoys adventure sports, and engaged in skydiving in 2008 and flew a plane in 2009. In her leisure time,
Mrs. Bowles enjoys music, dancing, reading, and collects Art.
